On September 4th the new FACT-team in Oslo received a pleasant visit from Minister of Health and Care Services, Mr. Bent Høie, Commissioner of Health and Social Services in Oslo, Øystein Eriksen Søreide, and Mayor of Oslo, Fabian Stang. Members of the press were also invited, but good news about mental health care seems to attract little attention in the mainstream media. After a tour around the facilities at Jordal in Oslo, the prominent guests were given a thorough presentation about the FACT-model and service – which is the very first of its kind in Norway. The FACT-service is offered to adults in District Gamle Oslo (Old Oslo) with severe mental illness and possible drug abuse. At present the FACT-team in Oslo has 106 patients who receives treatment and close follow-up. The FACT-project is already showing successful results, and most importantly, satisfied clients.
FACT Gamle Oslo is a five year collaborative project between District Gamle Oslo, Municipal mental health services and Lovisenberg Diakonale Hospital (LDH), district Psychiatric Outpatient Service (District Psychiatric Centre – DPC). Read more about the project at http://www.factgo.no/en.htm
